IE6 Hyperlink Problem Hanging Process (WXP-Pro)

Hello All,

I have a web page with a hyperlink to a file. This file type has a unique extension and opens with a particular program (ArcMap). When i click on this link in Mozilla Firefox, I can choose to open the file and it executes the program and displays the file. but in IE if I open the file nothing happens. An ArcMap process starts (I can see it in the Task Manager) but the application is not shown. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you.

Can you open locally stored file with same extension just by double clicking it? I think you could have something wrong with windows file associations. You can check them from Explorer -> tools -> folder options -> file types.
