You won't find the XP product code in the registry, not in a form that you can read anyway. It's not stored in a key exactly the way you typed it in like it is for say windows 98.

PC performance buffs have long measured hardware advances using a few simple metrics: Is it faster? Is it bigger? Does it have more blinky lights?
