When I gave my computer to my daughter, I wiped our old personal data and files and have been trying to re-install Windows.

On setup the wizard asks for an OEM authenticity code. Whilst I have this for other software I don't have it for Windows 95. How do I get hold of this or get a workround?

Don't ask me I only drive this thing

Start looking for the manual/book that came with it. The product code may be on a sticker on the front of the book. It was for mine. It's too bad you formatted all ready, you could have retrieved it.
