Please can anyone help? I am a complete novive to this! The problem is that when I try to download any files a security flag comes up saying "your current security settings does not allow..."
I have disabled windows security and scanned with spyware doctor, avc and macafee and they turn up nothing.
Please can anyone help?

In Internet Explorer, go to Tools > Internet Options > Security > Internet(will be highlighted) > Custom Level. Make sure Medium is selected in the window and click Reset and the OK/Apply yourself out.

Wendy,
You stated in your initial post that you "disabled security". It would be helpful to know precisely what steps you took.

OK. That won't effect your ability to download. Let's go to Internet Options again, select the Security tab and double check that the Internet Zone is set to Medium and the Intranet Zone (if you have one) is set to Medium-Low. Now, highlight the Internet Zone icon, click the Custom Level button, scroll to File downloads & Font downloads, make sure there is a check mark in the Enable box for each, click OK and then Apply. Ignore the re-set to High option. Finally, go the Advanced tab and click Restore Defaults and Apply. Unless something else is wrong, this should allow you to download from the Internet.
