i bought a used desktop pc that works ok, but for some reason it only displays 16 colors, no matter what i can do, it still only gives me 16 colors, i have installed the nvida for it. at first i thought that it didn't do it's job, when i tried to go back and do it again the message that i got was that the best driver is already working (best meaning the one that i just installed)

so what is it that i need to do to fix this?

when i go to the settings tab it only gives me the option of 2 or 16 colors.

i'll even try making a little computer voodoo doll if it will help...

any help will be appriciated...

Sounds like it is only a very basic video card, probably has less that 1 meg or ram on it. What resolution are you running it at? If it's something like 1024 x 680, reduce it and you may get more colors. You may have to replace it with a better card to get what you want.

PC performance buffs have long measured hardware advances using a few simple metrics: Is it faster? Is it bigger? Does it have more blinky lights?

Sometimes an incorrect video card driver can cause things to go crazy. Are you sure you have the very latest version of your VGA driver?
