View Full Version : Cookies (WXP-Pro)
All of a sudden, when I try to log onto ebay, I receive a message that my browser won't accept cookies. I attempt to change the settings but nothing seems to help. What am I doing wrong. BTW, this problem just appeared out of nowhere, just yesterday everything worked fine and I didn't change anything.

Bruce,
You say you attempted to change your settings. Specifically, what did you try to change?

XP Pro SP2 - Intel D925XCV - P4 2.8 GHz, 800MHz FSB, 1MB L2 Cache, HTT, socket 775 - WD 36GB TA - WD 250GB USB2 HD - 2GB Crucial DDR2 PC2-4200 - Plextor 716A - Chaintech NVIDIA GeForce 6600GT -Samsung 19" LCD -
Thanks for the response. When I try to sign in to eBay on my office computer, I get a message that my browser is rejecting cookies; this doesn't happen on my home computer. I went to IE, tools, Internet Options, Privacy, and set the privacy setting to "Low" thinking that would permit most cookies, but I still get the same response from eBay. Previously, when I didn't have a problem, the privacy setting was at "medium" . What do you think?

Go back into Internet Options > Privacy and click "Advanced" and check (if not already checked) the following: Override Automatic Cooking Handling, Accept First-party and Third-party Cookies, and Always allow session cookies and Apply/OK.
If this solves your problem, then download and run Jason's Cookie Jar. This free app. allows you to keep those cookies that hold Internet settings to forums and other sites and delete all others. Run this every day or so.

Thanks Tom, I tried that, but to no avail. I've been communicating with ebay (which seems to be the only site with which I have trouble), and we've tried running disk cleanup to try to get rid of one or more corrupted cookies as well as changing settings. Nothing works. (Ebay works just fine on my home computer.) I simply cannot sign in to ebay, when I enter my user id and password, I get a message "your browser is rejecting cookies".
What a mess!

Bummer ... I'm out of ideas. Perhaps one of the other members can shed some light.
After-thought ... Do you logon as an Administrator or a Limited User?
