Cannot Connect with IE, Can with Firefox (WXP-Pro)

Hello,

I am unable to connect to the Internet with IE 6, but Firefox 1.5 works fine. Pc-Cillin also does NOT connect for upgrades. Another oddity is that FTP connections in IE 6 seem to work fine. Any help would be appreciated.

Go to my computer and try to type the webadress in the adress bar and let me know if it works then i can provide you with further support if needed

Ha! It works. Why doesn't IE 6 or Pc-cillin work? Thank you very much for your offer to help.

And what's more, once I've opened yahoo.com from My Computer, I can also open google.com after, and seemingly any page I choose. But if I open IE first, nothing works, not yahoo.com, not google.com.

I have this problem aswell.
Internet Explorer can not open a website but Firefox and Opera can operate normally.
It started yesterday after I installed the FEAR demo and DirectX 9.0c and uninstalled Adobe Acrobat and installed Adobe Reader.
I already tried to reinstall IE6 and some fixes from Microsoft, but nothing worked.
I cannot open a site in "My Computer".
Also, unlike the original poster I do not have XP but Win2K Pro.
I really want to fix this problem since I really don't want to format and reinstall my entire computer.
