Hi,
I am running XP Home SP2. 8Mb B'band from E7even
For some reason my IE6 has ceased to work, all I get is "Page cannot be displayed" messages. My MS Messenger & MS Auto Update is dead also. MS Outlook works OK. To test, I have tried SlimBrowser, Avant & Opera which rely on IE6 and they are dead too. I am currently using Firefox as my default I have checked Mozilla too - both these function well.
I have tried IE with my Sygate Firewall down. (My SP2 MS Firewall is not activated .) This made no difference - no link to the I'net with IE.
My settings in IE -Internet Options/Connections show " Never dial connection " & LAN = "Auto detect settings". All other settings have been returned to IE 'Default' settings
I didn't realise I had a problem until I tried to download the WMI patch from the MS Security Site and then Oooops! No Go.
Any ideas anyone?
