I cannot open internet explore at all. The only way I can gain access to the internet is through Outlook.

When I click on the IE icon we get the following message:

IEXPLORE.EXE – Application Error
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application.

I have ran adware and virus programs, I have tried to downloand and reinstall IE6, but nothing seems to work. I am running Windows 2000, Windows Version 5.0 sp4

Any solutions much appreciated. Thanks!

I'm not sure this will help in your case, but it's worth a try: download and run IEFix.

You might have spyware. They cause just that kind of problems for IE.

Try opening the websites by going into my computer then typing the adress in the adress bar if that helps then the problem is not with the spy ware but the ie is currupt. but if it doesnot help then the shell is crrupt.

In addition to all the suggestions in the previous posts, TROUBLESHOOTING WINDOWS STOP MESSAGES
is a good resource.
