since yesterday, i cannot use my internet explorer (6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519) anymore.. it starts normally, the menues work normally as well, but when i type in a www-address, it just shows a blank page..
i tried to reinstall it by setting the registry entry to 0 (isInstalled), but still i have the message that i cannot update it, since i have the newest version installed :-( can anybody give me an advice?
thanx for any tipp

Does it work if you type full address like "http://www.winguides.com" instead of "www.winguides.com"? If it works, then your problem can be fixed. I don't remember the fix right now, but same question has been asked and solved before.

Try this fix:
<a target="_blank" href=http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;281679>You cannot open a new Internet Explorer window or nothing occurs after you click a link
</a>

unfortunately nothing of these suggestions worked, i followed the fix-procedures on the link..
By the way, also the window-update link in SystemProperties doesn't work..
i try now to download sp2 and reinstall it again..
edited 14.10:
- reinstall of sp2 didn't work..

Try this:
1. Quit all running programs.
2. Click Start, and then click Run.
3. Type regsvr32 urlmon.dll, and then click OK.
4. When you receive the "DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded" message, click OK.
If this does not resolve the problem, repeat steps 2 through 4 for each of the following files (in step 3, replace Urlmon.dll with each of the file names below):
regsvr32 softpub.dll
regsvr32 oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 mshmtl.dll
regsvr32 browseui.dll
regsvr32 shell32.dll
regsvr32 upnhisapi.dll
regsvr32 sendmail.dll (this one probably won't apply but you can add it to your
list if you write these down)
regsvr32 msvcrt.dll
regsvr32 actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 cmds21.dll
regsvr32 msctf.dll

You keep showing address formatted as "www-address"
If you are using a "-" instead of a "." then you won't get to a page. (www.address.com).
Otherwise, can you get to any site by any means? Do you have an active internet connection?

Hy Tom
Thx for your help, i tried to set these reg entries.. they succeeded, except
upnhisapi.dll (Modul not found)
msvcrt.dll (loaded, but failed to register)
cmds21.dll (Modul not found)
still the same problem, i type the address, and nothing happens, when i move the mouse-pointer out of the address-field, the sandclock is added to the pointer.. The microsoft-windows logo on the top-left corner is animated as well..
I do have an active internet connection, i'm writing this on the same machine (with firefox). But strangely, i can open local html-Files with internet explorer, but not remote ones, also not with bookmarks, chaning start-up page etc...
When i try to reach a *.html page from the internal server via http, i have the same problem<P ID="edit"><FONT class="small">Edited by Juiceterry on 01/08/06 23:32.</FONT></P>

Open Internet Options, select the Advanced tab and scroll down to "HTTP 1.1 settings" and make sure the first option hasn't been accidentally unchecked.

If you have the WXP-Pro CD you could do a <a target="_blank" href=http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/tips/doug92.mspx>"repair install"</a>.
