Hi. This is my first post. I've been a user since DOS days but I am asking a very basic question.
After I've run Add/ remove to uninstall programs
what can I do to free disk space so I can back up disk. I now have less than 10% free space.

temp files from c:\temp or c:\windows\temp or c:\windows\temporary internet files
When you say 10%, it depends of 10% of how much! And it depends on how you back up your disk. whole disk or do you have a partition?
Even though you have a basic question, it needs more details first before it can be answered

Regardless of how much stuff you uninstall or delete, when you get down to 10% of the total disk capacity as free space you need to add hard drive capacity. One of the easiest ways is to add an external, USB hard drive. I resisted doing this (still don't know why /images/forums/icons/smile.gif) so my son gave me a WD 250GB USB2 external HD for Christmas. Having that extra capacity is so sweet, I can't believe it!

Compress files and folders you don't use very often. That can free quite much disk space. I have used that trick when I have needed quickly more free space.
