Hello,
this just started the other day, possibly after using Windows Update.
PC#1 First I should say I have shortcuts on my desktop to some websites. When I paste a url with out the www in the IE6 address bar IE6 goes to the desktop shortcut if one exists for that url. if the domain name is pasted with the www IE6 goes to the site. The IE6 has sp1 installed and is up to date and shows 14 Microsoft patches. This pc is on a intra net and my other pc's were updated at Windows Update the same day and are working OK now, although PC#2 crashed within a week of the updates. PC#2 due to a registry issue from advertising adware that got in between weekly scans.

PC#3, PC#4 haven't had any problems and now PC#2 is fine.

All PC's have had Spybot - Search & Destroy and adware run which both shows the systems clean and are run weekly. Morton Antivirus and Zonealarm are also active on all PC's.
PC#1 which has the browser issue also hasn't crashed and shows clean under Spybot - Search & Destroy and adware. PC#1 with the current browser problem is an older PC used just for monitoring email from my websites. I have noticed that the spell checking in OE is grayed out and when checking the browser the option to go back to previous version is also grayed out. PC#1 had around 100 email addresses in OE, probably about 4 months ago I noticed half of the email addresses grayed out. Being an older pc the work load I put on it is rather light.

any ideas on what is going on with PC#1?

PC#1 website email monitor. Compaq 400mhz 160mb ram 20gb hd
PC#2 regular use. Dell Optiplex 750mhz 384mb ram 100gb hd
PC#3 Programming PC. Athlon 1ghz 256mb ram 160gb hd
PC#4 Wife's PC. P4 1.7ghz 256mb ram 20gb hd

I know it probably looks like my wife's pc should be used for PC#3.
but upgrade's of PC#3 & PC#1 are scheduled in the near future.

PC#3 scheduled for update to P4 dual core.
current PC#3 will be replacing PC#1

Thanks,
