When I start Win98SE, sometimes the scanreg comes up and says there's a problem with my registry....then it fixes it and everything works fine again for a little bit till it does it again, anyone know how to stop it from checking?
Go to Start -Run-msconfig-OK-Choose Startup tab-Uncheck the ScanRegistry line.
Reboot ....Hope that helps.

Big mistake - Don't remove that line, it can be a life saver.
If you recive this error on a constant basis, you may have a bad RAM chip.
If your configuration allows it, remove one chip and boot up to see if you get the same error.

I have the same issue, purchased new ram, clean install of 98, the above mentioned problem. Then I purchased Win2KPro, clean install, nvidia display driver problem, ( I have a creative labs Anihilator Pro, and just purchased a creative labs anihilator ultra), none of which helped... there is something we are missing, that I hope someone can help.
