Desktop: WinXP
Laptop: WinXP

Desktop connected to the router, laptop can connect to the internet through the router wirelessly and surf the net.

Both computers are on the MSHOME workgroup.

When looking in My Network Places and going into workgroup MSHOME on the desktop, I get the error:

"Mshome is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource.

The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available."

When going into the workgroup MSHOME from the laptop, I can see both computers listed in there, but when I try to go into the desktop's it says:

\\<desktop's PC name> is not accessible.

As far as I know both computers are set to sharing, etc. Anything I could be missing? What key things should I check?

You stated: <font color=blue>"Desktop connected to the router, laptop can connect to the internet through the router wirelessly and surf the net."</font color=blue>

How do you have the desktop connected to the router?

try this in your network places set up a home or small office network again, you have to do this every time you reboot or unplug a pc out, cause you dont have it to run at start up, so every time you boot up you can do it manually too good luck
