I have three computers connected to eachother through a Linksys 10/100 Fast Ethernet 5-Port Network Hub. Two of the computers are connected directly, while one of them is connected through an intermediate wireless router (being a laptop). Finally, the hub itself is connected to the internet through the uplink port, with two additional IP addresses bought from my ISP. So:

Computer 1 --> Hub --> Internet
Computer 2 --> Hub --> Internet
Computer 3 --> Wireless --> Hub --> Internet

Computer 1 and Computer 3 (the wireless one) can see each other no problem, but no one can see Computer 2 (which is identical to Computer 1 in every way; I even set them up simultaneously with Windows XP Professional).

All three computers have the same Subnet Mask (255.255.255.0). The two computers that see each other (C1 & C3) have the same Default Gateway (192.168.1.1) and similar IP addresses (192.168.1.101 and 192.168.1.102). The other computer has a different default gateway and IP address (70.25.123.144 and 70.25.123.1), so I think that's the problem. Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, all of this is being assigned by a DHCP server and I don't know how to pull the 70.25... computer into the sights of the other two!

As an aside, I use an iBook that is also being connected to the same hub/internet through an Airport Express wireless router:

Computer 4 --> Airport Wireless --> Hub --> Internet

Computers 1 and 3 can't see it, either, but instead of just having a different default gateway, it ALSO has a different subnet mask:

IP Add: 69.199.239.44
SMask: 255.255.255.128
Gateway: 69.199.239.1

I realize this is a Windows forum so I don't expect help with the Mac, but the information might be helpful to you if the problem with computer 2 is the same as the problem with my mac :)

hi

its very clear that your computer 2 is on differnt network, i.e. 70.25.....

its very necessary for all computers to be in same network to see each other

otherwise u must have some routing between the different nets.

to do this which i suggest is to connect internet to directly to the lan card of your pc and install another lan card in the pc and enable internet connection sharing, then conncet the hub to the second lan card and all other pcs to the hub

now routing will be enabled and your problem will seem to be solved

thanks

If u r using a dchp server to obtain ip address for the pc's and in order to join the trouble machine with the others in the same subnet do the following if u haven't done so allready : choose properties from your local connection and properties again for the tcp/ip protocol. The second tab "alternate configuration" gives u the choise of another subnet. Hope i helped

change the default gateway to 192.168.1.1 and
change the ip for c2 to 192.168.1.103 you can do the if you disable the auto ip and do it man, you need to always have the same network id and dif, host id good luck you need to know which one are your net id and which one is your host ip its in the ip
