View Full Version : Throttled downstream Win2000 problem (W2K)

Hi there,

I've recently had my Free-Online (over BT) ADSL line regraded from 512 to 2mb. Fantastic. I've got a Linksys WAG54G wireless router and my Win2000 laptop achieves speeds in online tests of about 1,850mbs - Not bad. My Win2000 desktop can at best only hit 600mbs.

Obviously there must be a config setting on the desktop thats slowing things down, but I've run numerous optimisers, etc. on both machines (readonly on the laptop!) to see if I can figure out the issue.

I've read a lot about MTU settings but I've fiddled with these settings loads and I can't fix my problem, indeed if I alter the MTU on the router from Auto, things really crawl on both machines.

Can anyone suggest a good place to look for the usual suspects please? This is driving me to the edge of a nervous breakdown!

Thanks in advance,
Nic
