Windows starts really slow. When I go to make a new folder, it will lag REALLY bad for about 10 seconds, and then it will be somewhat okay. When it DOES lag, the mouse moves VERY CRITICALLY slow and is "clumpy" with it's movement.

Here are the programs that I have at startup according to the "msconfig.exe":

1.) Systray.exe
2.) hpztsb02.exe
3.) point32.exe
4.) USBmonit.exe
5.) STImon.exe
6.) MCMNHDLR.exe" /checktask
7.) mcvsshld.exe
8.) mcagent.exe
9.) mcupdate.exe
10.) bdmcon.exe (BitDefender)
11.) mcvsrte.exe /embedding
12.) bdss.exe
13.) xcommsvr.exebdinit.exe

This computer has 512MB of Ram, so I know it has enough horse power to handle the load. I have done a virus scan, and I didn't come up with anything. The scanner I used was the "bitdefender" scanner...

One more thing; this box had AOL crap on it. I don't know if any of you out there had AOL, and if you like it, I apologize for my bitterness towards AOL. I've just never had any luck with it, and I've never known anyone to have any luck with it either. I've tried to delete everything AOL related on this machine...

PLEASE HELP ME!

StartUp Index will tell you what those items are and whether or not they need to load at startup.

Type AOL in Find and delete what comes up. Also, run Scan Disk.

If you don't regularly empty your Temporary Internet Files, Cookies and History folders that would be a good idea, too.

Finally, download and run a couple of anti-spyware programs such as Ad-Aware, Spybot Search and Destroy. Don't configure them to run at startup or in the background ... just manually scan a couple of times a week.
