Hi,

My OS is Windows 2000 Professional and every time I try to open Add/Remove P
rograms from the Control Panel my system stops responding.

When I tried the same using the Safe Mode, the system did NOT hang and I was
able to open the Add/Remove Programs without any problems.

I also tried the following.

1) expanded the appwiz.cpl file from the i386 directory to my desktop.
2) moved the appwiz.cpl file to a temp directory.
3) ran the new appwiz.cpl file from my desktop and got this error message

"Internet Explorer Script Error

An error has occured in the script on this page

Line: 21
Char: 1
Error: Object doesn't support this property or method
Code: 0
URL: res://sp3res.dll/default.hta

do you want to continue running script on this page"

The system stops responding when selecting either "yes" or "no"

I haven't got a clue as to what is wrong. As a last option, I even tried for
matting my hard disk and re-installing Win 2000 Pro but the problem still ex
ists.

Hope you guys will be able to help me out.

Thanks,

Ajith

It still exists even after formatting? If you have a fresh install and you haven't loaded any of the software back on, then I'd start looking at device drivers. If it works in Safe Mode but not in regular Windows, a device driver or service is the likely culprit.
