Hi there - I need to re-install win me on my laptop. I don't have the disks but I do have my reg #. Can anyone link me to somewhere I can download the ME operating program? Would this be the only thing I need to re-install? I haven't done this before. Luckily, there is nothing on the harddrive that I need. It was a spare. I would appreciate any help - also with the re-installation process. Thanks in advance. Joey

You might look on the hard drive for the .cab files from the WinME CD, may be in C:\Windows\Options\Cabs.
Downside is the setup.exe file from the root of the CD may not be there, usually necessary to have it.
Does the Properties of My Computer display the serial number with the letter OEM in it? Could use any WinME OEM CD with your CD Key [NOT the same as the number I asked you to look at].
You'll probably also need the drivers for the various items on the motheboard such as sound, video, modem, LAN, etc.

Hi again. I actually found the Win95 operating disc. So, now that I have the CD, can I just re-format with just this disk? Also, any help on "How To" would be appreciated. Thank you.

Probably not. The Win95 CD is not bootable and the Win95 boot floppy with Format on it may not work on FAT32-formatted hard drives, depends upon the version. Win95 and Win95A can't do FAT32, limits at 2GB partition sizes regardless of what the BIOS sees. Win95B and Win95C can do FAT32 but were not available to the public, only as an OEM version on a new computer.
