Whenever I click on a folder or file or any icon, where the name WAS now gets filled with +++++++ signs. I can't rename or create any files. As it does so, it makes a click, click, click noise from the internal PC speaker. Desktop speakers are off. If I turn them on, the click comes through them as well. If I enable the default sounds, every sound is repeated ad infinitum till I reboot. The sound icon on the task bar has a mind of it's own. It's there, it's not, it's there. WTF?
I've done a virus scan, adaware etc and all is clean. When the pipes screensaver comes on, it clicks it's little tiny off.
Any ideas on a cure, besides a .45 magnum?
