I got a new video card and decided to reformat my C: drive while I was at it to improve efficiency. Yet after installing windows, it just locks up after the first restart, when it should be going into the configuration process.

the only thing different form the last time I installed windows is I got a new video card, a radeon 9550.

the closest thing i found to my error was this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/288873

Yet that doesn't really make since because no drivers are installed yet.

i have a a7v8x-x motherboard, xp 1800+, usb mouse, usb keyboard, 120gb wd harddrive, dvd-rw, and the radeon 9550.

Thanks!

Did you try to restart in Safe mode?

it doesn't get that far in the start up process to be able to do that.

before you bought your new card, you diden't had any kind of problems ?

if problem occured only when adding that card into your system, make sure you have the latest from your mother board for AGP drivers for 8x speed.

if I understand correctly, you weren't able to complete the reload is that correct ? and I also understand that the problems started after installing that card ... simple question, at that point, did you simply tryed to see if you can complete windows setup using the old card again ?

other question, that old graphic adapter, was it PCI ? if so, my guess is that your motherboard never used AGP, so make sure to update the AGP drivers.
