Hello,

I am running windows server OS and I have a wireless router attatched to the server. Currently, the router is the dhcp server and it assigns ip address to the server pc.

I have read that to enable a domain controller/dns server, the server must have static ip. Although the server gets its ip from the router, it seems that the ip address assigned by the router is always the same: 192.168.2.101
with subnet 255.255.255.0 Probably, its because the LAN is not too large

So,when i setup a role for the server, can I stick to dhcp, since the assigned ip to the server is always the same? Or should i set 192.168.2.101 as the static ip?
And if I set the static ip, will there be 'conflicts' with the router, since the router is the dhcp server?

The DHCP client try to renew the (same) address before the lease time is ended... Let the server's IP address fixed...
And yes, you could have problems with two DHCP servers on the network (duplicated addresses)...

if you just set the server to a fixed IP no you will not have probles just because the router is set to DHCP. DHCP is a service to assing ip addresses to computers who don't have it set it they do have them it's just busness as usual but it is better have a fixed IP spesully on a server you could set up a DHCP on the server in that case tho you should disable the DHCP on the router because yes they would conflict with each other
