I've just purchased a new PC with XP Home OS.
I want to transfer files from my old Win95 machine.
I tried a direct cable link with the net cards and the XP transfer software but when I put the XP disc in the Win95 pc I got a message that win98 is required.
My son borrowed a D-Link DE 805TP hub but we are stuck because there are no docs with it.
By the way, both PC's have network cards for broadband internet.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Did you set up local ip for each machines?

like 192.168.1.100
255.255.255.0
192.168.1.1

and 192.168.1.101
255.255.255.0
192.168.1.1

ip
subnet
gateway

do that and if you could, hook it up to a hub or just buy a crossover rj45 network cable, you can then transfer files over after you enable file sharing
