Color Settings (W98)

Hello......I run Windows 98 on my HP Pavilion 4455. The computer is working well. Over the past couple of years, it seems that my colors are not as brilliant as they used to be. I do know that a couple years back, I messed around with color settings just for fun. Currently, it is set on 800x600 True Color 32 Bit. I don't remember what the default setting was. I have my brightness and contrast turned up.

Is there any way to get the screen brighter like I think it used to be? I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.

Win98 came out in '98 and Win98SE came out in '99. Could be that the monitor is what is fading, they don't last forever.
