Little box in corner (W2K)

When I click on some hyperlinks, I get a little box in the upper left hand corner of the screen. It has a square, circle, and triangle inside the box, which is about 1/4 inch. Any idea what settings to change to fix this?

The symbol described means the wild-card symbol for a picture. Try right-click it. Also check settings of picture showing/viewing in your browser. It may be disabled or possibly blocked.
