The following only occurs when I bring up the NY Times, no other site that I visit has this problem. The problem started 2 days ago. I'm baffled

I hit my link to the NY Times, their front page comes up and I am logged in. There are always 4 or 5 articles summarized with a link to the full article, I can click on anyone of these articles and it comes up as it should. Here's where things get weird: on that front page there are links to the various sections of the paper (Politics, Entertainment, Editorials/Op-Ed, etc.) I will use the Editorials/Op-Ed section as the example in this description but keep in mind that it applies to all sections. When I click on the Editorials/Op-Ed link that page comes up. Summaries of all the columns are displayed. When I click on a specific column the " The Page Cannot Be Displayed" etc. comes up. Everytime.
Further: If I scroll the front page down to the point where the various sections; Business, National, International, etc. are listed, each heading followed by 3 or 4 "lead-lines" to articles and I then click on any of those links I get the same message.
What baffles me is the fact that I can access those few front page lead articles but nothing else. The links to advertizers do work.
Well, there you have it....the first few hours I thought it was a problem with their servers or something.....but 2 days?.....they'd have fixed it by now....it has to be something peculiar to my system; single home desk-top, nothin fancy.
I'm looking forward to the answer to this one, hope one of you folks can come up with it. Good Day to all, Harshale

What level is the Intenet Security Zone set? If it is higher than Medium re-set it to Medium. It could be that some of your ActiveX settings are too high.

Thanks much Tom....my security setting is at medium,....but I'll definitely try some moves in the ActiveX area,....I had just recently been mucking about in there and I'll check out my changes. Odd tho that it is limited to the NY Times.
Again, thanks....Harshale

Well...that isn't it....everything in Activex is in order. I just ran thru the drill and still get the message.

This is one of those problems that can be a pain to solve.

Try this first: LSP fix - repair Winsock 2 stacks.

Next: here's a Microsoft site that deals with the issue ... Page Can't Be Displayed.

Greetings Tom;....The problem is solved...LSP Fix found no problems....the MS link you included got me into my cookies. I hit Temp. Internet Files, located the NY Times cookies and deleted them. I then hit the site and attempted to log-in...failed; cookies from NY Times were being blocked....went to Internet Options > Privacy > Web Sites > Edit, I scrolled down the list of blocked domains and there was NYTimes.com - I unblocked it and tried logging in again.....success....tried various NY times links that had previously given me the "Page cannot... etc." message and now all is well. I have no idea how or when it got set in the Blocked Web-site list.
Well, thanks again for your advice and time, it got me pointed in the right direction, Harshale
