Some months ago I wrote a question on this problem every time I booted up Internet Explore. I had to go to tools, internet options, connections, LAN and untick the proxy server box. There were lots of other people with the same problem.
Now I think I've found the answer! You have to re-set Internet Explorer!
How to re-set Internet Explorer as your default browser:
Open Internet Explorer, click "Tools" then "Internet Options". Click the "Programs Tab" at the top and make sure that "Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser" is checked. If it is not then check it and click "Apply" then "OK". Now close Internet Explorer and re-open it. If Internet Explorer is not currently your default browser, you'll get a message to the effect "Internet Explorer is not currently your default browser, would you like to make it your default browser?" . Click "Yes" and "Never ask me this again". Click OK. Now close Internet Explorer. Open Opera. If Opera was set as your default browser you'll get a warning message to the effect that "Opera is no longer your default browser, would you like to make it your default browser?" Click "NO" and "Never ask me this again." click OK and close Opera. You should, at this point, reboot your computer. When your computer restarts, you will have Internet Explorer as your default browser.
You can then make Google or Opera or whatever you 'home page'. Try it and see!
