I've recently installed firefox and made it my default browser so I could see if I liked it.
I've now decided I want to revert back to using IE as my default browser but I can't find any way to make it my default browser.
(I don't really want to uninstall firefox, but if there's no other way so be it)
Can anyone help.

Go to IE Tools, Internet Options, Programs tab.
At the bottom is a box you want to place a check into where it states "Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser".
Click Apply and Ok.
Close and reopen IE. It should now ask if you want it to be the default browser...select Yes.

Thanks for this.
I've done what you suggest but didn't get any message when I reopened IE.
Also, when I click on a hyperlink, it is opened in firefox still.
Seems odd to me. I wonder if you have any other ideas of what's going on in my PC:)
Thanks again for your help, and best regards.
Brian

I don't use or have Firefox but you may want to check within it's perferences to see if one of the settings is to 'reclaim' being the default browser and if found, deselect it.

I had the same issue exactly. IE wouldn't do the check when I started it. I found that having OE seemed to be stopping the check. I closed OE and then opened IE and it did the default browser check as it should.
For whatever its worth...

Hi Brian,
This is actually weird that when we check (or) uncheck "Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser", IE wouldn't do anything of that sort...This might be a BUG in IE...
I had the same problem just today & just now & I did one other thing...
There is a button called "Reset Web Settings" in the same "Programs" tab, see what, it sets IE as the detault browser...
& it WORKS for me...
Cheers,

BRIAN MAKE SURE YOU HAVE UNCHECKED THE BROWSER DEFAULT BOX IN FIREFOX. GO TO TOOLS OPTIONS GENERAL TABS AND UNCHECK BOX THEN GO BACK TO INTERNET EXPLORER AND CHECK THAT DEFAULT BROWSER BOX.
