For security purposes, I renamed my administrator account and made up a new bogus administrator account named administrator. I also set up a Poweruser account that I would normally like to use since it is safer to surf without using an account with administrative privileges.

My problem is that when I logon as administrator I go to my normal desktop but, when I logoff the admin. acct. and onto the poweruser acct., I go to a desktop that is lacking many of the programs I use, as well as not having over 2000 jpg's I've saved, and I also need to resetup firefox, thunderbird etc.

Why in the world don't I log back into the same desktop? I have tried to correct this by copying the admin. profile to the poweruser profile but this didn't work.

Thanks for any help. Tom

When you renamed original administrator, windows kept all settings, including desktop and attached them to that renamed account. Your new administrator account got new desktop and other settings from defalt user's profile. So you have to make all desired customizations againg. You have also to install all per user applications for that new account. Old account might have many icons on private desktop, which can be copied to new administrators desktop. Explore folders under "c:\Documents and Settings\*\Desktop" and "c:\Documents and Settings\*\Start Menu". Be sure that explorer is showing system and hidden files while doing that.
