I have recently got a problem with IE on Windows 2000 SP4. The only account I can access web pages with is the administrator. Any other power user, user, guest etc cannot access pages. Using mozila firefox I can access pages on all user accounts.

I have ran ad-aware, spybot an mirosoft anti-spyware. I have zonealarm but its been disabled. I have uninstalled IE and re-installed latest version still to no avail.

Although probably irrelevant I have also done all other possible updates ie. windows, bios, chipset, etc. The only windows update I cannot do is the Microsoft Java VM although I have the Sun Microsystems VM

When i create a new user account its still the same. New admin account can access web. I am really struggling for ideas and would be very grateful for some help.

Two trivial questions:
- have you checked internet connection settings?
- what really happens attempting access web? A message?

All settings within IE have been put back to defaults as well as it being reinstalled.

When trying to access pages no error messages. Some frames are blank.......

eg. Google is a blank white page. www.halifax.co.uk displays the tabs along the top but all the content below is blank. All the frames are just white.

Changing the account to administrator privileges resolves problem but any other privileges just have the problem as above

Sounds like unsufficient competence to "Temporary Internet Files" folder. This one should be set to
C:\Documents and Settings\YPN\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

where YPN = your profile name.

HTH.

Sounded like a good suggestion but I checked it out and they where already set like that. I also deleted everything in the folder then restarted IE.

Any other suggestions?

I have just noticed that also when I open Zonealarm or Add/Remove Programs in a non-admin account that the window is displayed and there is blank pages within them

Add/Remove Programs displays the options down the side but below currently installed programs is a blank page.

Zonealarm also displays the window but just the background colour and thats all. It still works fine though. I got a zonealarm popup (just blank again), but I knew it would be asking to grant or deny access so I pressed a to allow and it disappeared.
