View Full Version : Can't disconnect

Since getting rid of a couple of trojans ( Dropper and ByteVerify) I have been having problems with IE6.

I have tried IEFIX but if anything it seems to have made things worse. Sometimes I'll run IE6 and everything seems fine but other times I find I can't disconnect unless I switch off the computer completely.

Other occasional problems are, clicking on links causes the screen to freeze, minimized windows cannot be maximized again.

IEFIX is supposed to enable me to reinstall IE6 but whilst running it I'm prompted to install inf file from the sercice pack2 disc which I don't have since I downloaded it from Windows Update. I can't install it from my hard drive either, well atleast I can't locate it so I have to skip that part .

When I use add/remove programmes to remove IE from windows and try to reinstall I'm informed that there is already a more recent version of IE installed on the computer.

I'm as sure as I can be that there is no more malware on my computer but suspect that some damage has been done to IE6, is there any way I can fix this without actually reinstalling the OS?

I'm using XP home edition by the way.
