No Connection to Internet (W98)

I am using Win98 and recently upgraded to IE 6.0. Occasionally on IE 5.5 I would get the message No Connection to the Internet is Currently Available. This problem became worse with IE 6.0. I found information at microsoft support (Article ID 303346) for this problem that involved making a correction to two entries in the registry. I made the changes but the "auto" entry in LoadSens keeps changing back to "yes". I sure would like to know what is causing this. Does anyone have any ideas. I might add that I also upgraded to Windows Media Player 9.0. Accessing it seems to generate the No Connection message as well. Thanks for any advice.

If you go to add remove programs and click on IE6 one of the options is to do a repair. If that doesn't help you could try downloading and running <a target="_blank" href=http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4372.html>WinsockFix</a>
