View Full Version : can't log into windows (WXP-Pro)

I have a laptop that I lowed out to a friend well this friend changed my password on my account by the time he had given it back to me he had forgotten what he changed my password to now I have some important information on the laptop that I need plus just some personal stuff like pictures and documents I don't whant to lose is their anyway I can acces that information a friend of mine told me to press ctr-alt-del and log in as administrator but I set up a password when I installed windows any other ideas anything PLEASE HELP!!

that would work but like I sead I can't get in at all right now so I can't edit the registry and since I don't know the password I'm afraid it count's that method out :( but thanx for the sujestion

no still ask for a password I alsow have this powerfull admin utility Winternals- administative pack
witch is very powerfull utility but the laptop has no CD-rom or disk drive to boot from so I have to explere my options
I was thinking a network boot but not soo sure how to set one up from a windows based enviorment

When you say the laptop doesn't have a CD-ROM drive or "disk drive", do you mean floppy disk drive? How do you install apps. on your system? If you had to re-install XP-Pro how would you do that?

it had a external cd-rom drive that I had but it is now broken and I did not wish to replace it as most of my files are put on their by eather creating them or by the network I work on and have really no need for any kinde of media

hey tom thanx alot for all your help I ended up attaching a usb FDD and booting up through a boot disk with a program called CIA Commander (simular to winternals administrators pack but does less) witch I use in the office to unlock admin passwords when I have costumer computers with set admin passwrds that they don't remember the pass to. thanx for the help tho
