Good day to all!
If anybody can tell me how to create a reg. entry to disable 98 from "create recent documents" I would appreciate it.
I have several reg. entries but they disable more things than I want them to.
Thanks...have a great day!

Create a Recdocs.reg file;
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"ClearRecentDocsOnExit"=dword:00000001
"NoRecentDocsMenu"=dword:00000001
"NoRecentDocsHistory"=dword:00000001

Thanks, Pennydan50...do I copy this text to 'notepad' and name it "Recdocs.reg", then merg?
I'm sorry, I'm not experienced plus a bit uncomfortable dealing with the registry. I do know how to restore if I make a mistake.

Sorry. the content of your post suggested experience.
Yes, open notepad or any text only editor and paste it in. There are two blanks lines at the end of the file and they are to be included. Save it as Recdocs.reg and merge it. To turn things on or off use the Folder Options in Windows Explorer. In the menu bar click on View or Tools, Folder options, View. Scroll down until you see the entries.

Thanks, Pennydan50! I got it. I haven't ever made any of those files, in the past I loaded up 'regedit' and changed the Dword or whatever it called for to do the changes...always with sucess, but it makes me nervous. Plus a few friends usually make them up and I have used them, sometimes they edit too much, that's why I wanted to disable 'recent doc's' only.
I have a big problem in that PC now (no relation to this post), I'll post it now.
Thanks very much,
-Dale
