I'm turning this over to the forum as I'm a relative newbie when it comes to sorting out computer problems, and don't know where to start.
Over the last week or so, my normally stable computer has begun to go berserk, crashing at every opportunity and in a variety of ways. So far I've seen:
Any number of blue screens
Three straight frozen screens (ALL when I was trying to open a new window)
One "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem" which froze in the middle of the error report
One illegal operation from something called Scanregw, which is the only crash so far to have occurred when I wasn't on the internet, and is probably coincidence
Norton LiveUpdate repeatedly downloading what looks like the same 181K update.
I can't find any apparent connection (though several incidents happened while using an Internet radio station which has worked fine for years, and which I would be loath to abandon). Also, I haven't installed a thing over the past two months or so.
I wish I could put it down to being careless with resources, but at the time of the most recent crash (ten minutes ago!) I had only two Internet windows open, neither of which were displaying so much as a graphic.
No, I don't expect anyone to guess the cause from my rather haphazard information, but what do you suggest I do next to find out what's causing these problems?

'Microsoft Frontpage Technical Support' = Oops, if PC falters contact or ring them up.
