Hi

I hope you can help!

- I have a laptop and Main PC.
- The Main Laptop (Sony Vaio GRX, win XP pro) has been off to Sony for a new motherboard and since it has come back I have used the recovery disc to reset all settings
- The main PC has had a new main board and a fresh install of XP by my local repair man.
- Both PC and Laptop now have SP2 Installed
- The PC is connected to the Internet with BT ADSL
- The PC and laptop are connected via a 3COM USB 11MPS Wireless LAN adaptor and a Sony 11MPS wireless PC card.

Now the problem:

Everything was working fine before I had the PC and laptop repaired, however now I can not access certain websites on the laptop through Internet Connection sharing, most notable the Microsoft websites. The browser appears to connect to the page, but then stalls, times out and displays “page cannot be displayed”.

Plugging the ADSL direct into the laptop solves the problems and it is also able to Internet connection share to the PC with no problem.

I have disabled windows firewall and it still gives the same problems.

File sharing works fine.

I have been pulling my hair out for three days over this… can anybody help?

Many thanks

James

Manually ener the DNS numbers and ip address for your wireless card tcp/ip info. That may resolve the problem

There are few ways to find those numbers...

1. Call your ISP and ask them... if any luck and those so called "Tech Support" know what they are doing should give you the info.

2. If you have any working computer that can go on internet. just do ipconfig/all from command prompt, you should see the DNS info.

3. If you are use a router, you can see it from the status page.

4. Search from the internet. with any luck, internet page or isp page will tell you your DNS number.

I have problem with my couple of wireless as well, it kept saying It is connected but can't go on internet. So, manually configure the DNS and local ip and now it works okay. Why, I really have no clue, i think it has something to do security of the pc or router.
