Won't shut down (W98)

When I try to shut down my computer it goes through the normal process and it just restarts. It looks exactly the same as it does when I click restart. Please help

get AVG and run a test, its most likey some vires, also you can shut your computer down by hiting CTRL-ALT-DELETE then clicking shut down. the BIOS my also be to blame but try an anti vires program first

I had this problem with a faulty power source. Though most likely it's a malicous software problem as Rush suggested.

Try checking the Enable Fast ShutDown in msconfig.exe and disabling it. It might work, though that usually solves the unable to shutdown problems.
