F-Prot av real time checker keeps telling me i have infected files in system volume information and to run the on demand part of the av.The problem is the on demand doesn't find anything to fix although the real time did. What do I need to do ?.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Disable system restore and restart in Safe mode and do a full system scan...

Cheers Mono,Did as you suggested and it seems to have stopped the problem.I am tempted to leave system restore switched off.

What happened was that the infected file(s) were caught up in the System Restore cache ... so when you turned it off the files were released (note: this is more of a metaphor than a precise technical explanation, but you get the drift). Then running a full system virus scan in Safe Mode insures you get all the bad guys. Actually, whenever you run a full virus scan it is a good idea to turn off System Restore and switch it back on after the scan.

Personally, I am not a fan of System Restore and have never had it enabled. Now watch Allan have a hissy-fit if he reads this post. /images/forums/icons/laugh.gif
