When I try to turn on the firewall my computer tells me that It can not start the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing Service.

What do I do to turn it on. It was working until recently.

In Safe mode, check your computer for malware (Update your antivirus, run Spybot S&D, Adaware...)

In smart mode I scanned with EZ antivirus,
Ad-Aware, and Microsoft antispyware. Everything was clean. I still can not turn on my firewall.

The Windows Firewall is dependent upon 2 other services that must also be running. Under Services in Computer Management make sure Remote Proceedure Call and the Event Log are both started. If not start them and then try to start you firewall.

They are both started already. I still receive the message :Windows cannot start the windows/firewall internet connection sharing (ICS)service

In the "Services" Control Window, make sure the following is set to "Automatic" and is started...

--> Application Layer Gateway
--> Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)

Also, have you scanned for spyware and viruses?
