After creating a DOMAIN on Windows 2000 Server, in Windows 98 Network Properties, we join it into Domain. Besides this under Identification, we can also give a different name for Workgroup. How do we do the same with Windows XP.
eg: The computer is joined under domain "company.com" and under Workgroup, we mention it as "Sales" (in Windows 98).
This shows us an hierarchical structure in Network Places. Sales, Accounts, IT dept. etc... and all the groups formed in the server are found under those specified workgroups. I just want to know where is such option in Windows XP Pro?

In NT based operating systems the Domain is the Workgroup.

Once you have installed W2K server and promoted it to a domain controler you can create the heirarchial structure you are looking for in active directory. Here you can create orgazational units (groups) that share the same functionality.

I assume ashwinkini is talking about "Network Places" view. Organizational Units do not show in Network Places.

Yes, that is exactly what I need. I need to see an hierarchical view in the Network Places or Network Neighbourhood similarly as it will be displayed in Organizational Units. Thank you very much for your kind response and please do let me know if any thing else is possible through some add ons / extensions?
