Hello, thanks so much for any help. a few weeks ago my computer was on w/ no programs running. i went to use it and it was frozen. i restarted it and upon restarting it it said there was some sort of error and it did a scan disk. after that was done and it restarted i tried to login with my user id and password and it didnt recognize me. everything on desktop was different. no programs were in the start menu but i could see them on c drive. THE major problem was that all My documents folders were gone and no files were in there all i could see were my pics folder and my music folder and they were now empty. I tried to login a few more times and my password finally worked. but i still can't find my documents files anywhere. I tried the c: drive documents and settings and looked at all the folders in there and they are all empty. Not sure What i should do i took it to a data recovery place and they couldn't help. all i can think of is that if my windows user profile was corrupted than the file path to all my files that were in "My documents" is corrupted and they are some where on my system or destroyed? i'm a musician and im freaking out cause alll my music was in my documents folder. i haven't backed them up for 2 months and i do a lot of music in that period of time. any help would save 2 months of my art and i will try and repay you some how. thanks!

I would start Windows in the Safe Mode and log on as the user named Administrator.

Somewhen, the Administrator can see more things.

Lofi... This hurts, but... I think you've lost it all... from what you say about trying to find your docs, and the "run up" to it...it sounds like some things have removed theirselves from your HD...and yes "real men DO backup"...

I hope I'm completely wrong and out on a plank, but from your description it sounds like it's all gone... If you haven't installed/saved anything to your drive then there is the chance you might be able to get some of it back with a "undelete" or the like...f.ex. "Active Uneraser for windows" http://www.uneraser.com
