I have done several scans on my computer using the new Microsoft spyware and ad-aware as well as search and destroy spybot. Among other spyware (wtoolsa.exe and wtoolS.exe). I seem to have a process loaded on the computer that I am unable to get rid of, and it is slowly taking control of everything on my system. I have included it in the subject. I am unable to run Hijackthis it always produces an error and then the computer shuts down. Is there a spyware program that can be run at startup so that I can zap this process before it starts. I feel like I have tried everything...and need ideas.

I have restarted in safemode but I can't kill the processes in safemode because they aren't running, will the scan's catch them in safemode?

You might want to try to go to Add and Remove Programs and check if there are any Search helper type programs listed and try to remove them. If there are any programs you are unsure of post it back here and we'll have a look.
