Running win 2000 SP4, while working the computer got hanged & ctrl+alt+del could not be done, so I had to hard reboot.

On reboot I am getting message
"No OS found on Disk" press Esc to reboot.

Pressing esc to reboot does not solve the problem.

I tried repairing the OS from the CD but did'nt help, then as a last try I rebooted again & kept the win 2000 Cd in the drive.

It asked me to boot from the CD or else continue.........I continued & I could boot as normal.

Now the trouble is that I can only boot as normal with the Cd in the drive (though I am not booting from the CD)

Checked the hard disk for errors & virus, none found.
My C: drive shows "autoexe" file size 0KB & config.sys size as 0KB, not sure if these should show as 0 KB, may be someone can source the problem with my setup.

Need help!

I'm not sure but this may be related to the post below "here's a good one". I'm having a similar problem which just happened again and I'm looking for some help with it. Read through the thread you might find something there that helps you.

Your boot record may be damaged. Try to repair it... But be prepared for the need of a clean install /images/forums/icons/wink.gif
