Help please! Having read some of the posts here I hope that someone can offer some advice. When I open IE6 to do a search, it is directed to another search engine with links that have no bearing on my search. I have downloaded Hijackthis ver 1.99 only because it is mentioned in most of the posts here. However I don't know how to use it!
Can anyone please help?

First thing I think you should do is download update and run both SpyBot S&D (http://www.lavasoftusa.com>Adaware) and remove what it finds. You should also do an online virus scan with Trend Micro's Housecall. Sometimes Housecall will find things your present AV can miss. If this doesn't remove the adware, spyware stuff you have on your machine go to "Start/Control Panel/ Add and Remove Programs" and look for any "search or Browser" type programs installed on your machine. If you find them remove them. If you're not sure what they are post it here. After you do this rescan with HJT and post your logfile here.
