Hi, We (my co-workers & I) use Rumba to connect remotely to our client for our mainframe connection. The problem that we're hitting is that if we leave our session untouched for more than 5 minutes (of inactivity) we "time-out" (disconnect). When we try to reconnect, we cannot log in. When we were using Windows98 we had a registry fix to prevent this and allow us to go up to 45 minutes and then the mainframe would just log us out. I was wondering if anyone knows of a fix for this under Windows2000 & WindowsXP. Here's what we had for Windows98:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\T cpip\Parameters\KeepAliveInterval - 3000
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\T cpip\Parameters\KeepAliveTime - 900000
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\T cpip\Parameters\TcpMaxDataRetransmissions - 60
Thanks,
Robert

does anyone know of any other forums where I may be able to get an answer to this?

(Still don't know what Rumba is though)

Thanks for the search. Rumba is an emulator for connecting to a mainframe. aside from all of the dabbling I do in software & PC's, my day job is working on a mainframe through Rumba. This is where we're encountering the problem.
Thanks,
Robert

Then maybe <a target="_blank" href=http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Rumba%2Bemulation&spell=1>http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Rumba%2Bemulation&spell=1</a> will have better results on the search.

Typically you should be able to log back into the AS400 a few minutes after your connection times out.
You might also consider using IBM Client Access. I've seen higher latency with Rumba versus Client Access.
The registry entries you used for 98 will work for XP.
Open the Registry Editor, and navigate to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Tcpip\Parameters]
Create a new DWORD value named "KeepAliveTime", click the Decimal radio button to the right, and enter a value of 900000
Create a new DWORD value named "KeepAliveInterval", click the Decimal radio button to the right, and enter a value of 3000
Create a new DWORD value named "TcpMaxDataRetransmissions", click the Decimal radio button to the right, and enter 60 for the value

I'll give this a try. Hopefully it works. Our AS400 group doesn't experience this problem, only the Mainframe. Hopefully this will put everyone at the same point.
Thanks,
Robert
