Not sure if this will help. Looks close.

The way I read the 290831 article it looks like the cost of the call and the fix would be waivered since they recognize it being a problem with that version of Win98. If in fact the problem you are having and describe to them is the same.
The file is 24KB in size.

Thanks for the tip, but a little disappointing because it is version 1998 (an old one). W98se = version 2222, the one I search = version 2224. I hoped to solve a w98se shutdown problem with it. All other Microsoft tips don't help.
Bye, Rudolf.

I looked hard, even in several languages I didn't understand (German, Viet Nam, some other Oriental languages). I found several references to your module, but nowhere where you could download it.
You might follow the advice of Report_2 and call Microsoft. They might pay for the call and the service charge for the download if you prove the problem is in your version of Windows 98.
Another idea - There might be someone out there who has a copy, the version you are looking for, who would be willing to share it with you. Just a thought.
I hope you get it fixed.

Stating that English is not your first language then you are likely in a country outside of the US of A and although Microsoft will not charge you for the call your phone company will for sure.
You may also want to try another approach to resolving your shutdown problem.
See http://aumha.org/win4/a/shutdown.htm as it shows 15 steps to troubleshooting shutdown problems.

Thanks, this will take some testing time, because what I didn't tell, is that the "shutdown hanging" (without any BSOD, just the "Windows is shutting down" picture) does not always happen. It looks that extensive websurfing and/or some downloading causes "something" in the OS background or in memory that auto-shutdown fails and the powerbutton has to be used. YES, I have a bugfree system with autoupdate McAfee protection and use AdAware SE Personal and SpyBot S&D frequently! No one is bugging me!
Back to the top, thanks for the website link (unknown to me, but looks very helpful). It'll take some time, but I'll be back. ;-)
