If the scheduled time in policy is set to 5am, for example, and some computers are down, will the spyware doctor entreprise "scan & fix" those computers as soon they become available?. or if they are not connected at 5am will never be scanned?.

David

Note: Quite basic documentation for being an enterprise version .... Anyway, I will appreciate if somebody can provide any help about this ...

Hi David,

well scheduled scans are usually set for off peak times e.g after hours, if a pc misses say 3 scheduled scans then, when the pc comes back up during peak time it will run three scans which is not what we want, so the pc's will have to be on at the time.

The good thing is that if a pc is down when the schedule is running then an alert will generate and let the admin know the pc was unable to be scanend.

Pritam,

as the DSE is the one that controls the scans, it is very easy to avoid doing 3 scans to the PC that has missed 3 scheduled scans, very easy, and do only the last one.

If the pc has to be on at the time the schedule is established in order to be assisted by th DSE, the product becomes not useful at all. How a product that is designed to assist hundreds of PCs (what means hundrets of contexts (job shifts, international branches, etc, 5am is not the same time everywhere!) does not take into account all this?. According to your this design, a new job profile called "DSE ADMIN" should be create to be all day verifying warnings ... :) ... Seriously, this is not well designed.

It is the same case than remote installation. Product should be flexible enough to be installed remotelly (workgroup context) specifying user (with admin privileges) and password (asking network environments to have the same user and password everywhere is not reasonable), and schedule service should be intelligent enough for warning a pc that has been down during the scheduled time but at the same time, carry on with the process as soon the PC becomes available.

What do you think?. Could this be part of your excelent product?.

Thanks
David

Hi,

I also have some issues with this. I understand the PC's have to be on-line during the scheduled scan and fix. I also know that most user's are unable to manage 'manually' scanning and fixing themselves.

I tried to pick the quietest period to assist (12-1pm). It would be a much nicer feature, if there was such option as 'On idle' with flexible time period (i.e. 10 minutes).

Can an admin comment on this?

Thanks,

Kevin

Kevin, thanks for contacting PC Tools.

In regards to scheduling scans during ' Idle PC times '

Unfortunately we do not offer this feature at this time and we are unable to determine when such a feature will be developed and ready for your use.

However we have noted it and escalated the request to the SDE developers.

We appreciate your taking the time to offer us any feedback and encourage you to continue to let us know how we can improve our products. As our software continually developed and improved, new features are under consideration and your feedback is very helpful.

Kind regards,

Matt Johnson
