Very slow Internet connection (WXP-Pro)

I have a very slow Internet connection since a couple of days, I do not know what caused it; I ran Ad-aware, Spy-Bot, registry cleaner, antivirus, so I expect a clean system. My other PC on the network, a slow machine, is much faster on Internet. Any idea where I should look ? Thanks !!!

Try this. Open Windows Explorer and go to C:\ Documents and Settings. Click the plus sign and then the plus sign next to the User folder (probably has your name on it) and then click on the User Data folder so its files open in the right window pane. Now, in the right pane, scroll down to "index.dat", right click on it, select rename and rename it "index.old". Note: Windows will grow a new index.dat file.

This should improve your browsing speed. You will periodically need to repeat this drill as it isn't a permanent fix.
