Or do you mean the auto complete thing?

well i mean the drop down menus everything from the drop down address menu in the top of the IE to the drop down field menu that you get when you type some thing into google . . they always show you what you typed before . . if it's a field on a web sight sometimes it will show you things that you typed into other web sights . .

to be sure it's not something as simple as cookies , i erased all my cookies from google and restarted but googles drop down menu is still there and as full as ever . Also cookies could not explain the drop down address menu in IE.

Okay, I have experienced similar problem like yours. It is most likely your browser has been hijacked.

Download Adware, spybot search&destroy
and run them, it should clear them if not

download this program (or you can try this first)

http://www.browsertools.net/IEPK/

It is called IE privacy. It really cleans it up.

I cleaned up my browsing sites every day before I left the work place....

Hope that helps.

They are referred to as "Typed URLs".
They can be removed via the registry or script or as I do with a nice little standalone program called Delete URLs.

In Win98 the registry key is at:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs

I like to keep some of them and this program allows you to keep any or none. Real simple and no installation. It works in NT so I suspect it will work in XP too. If not just delete the folder you stored it in.

I find 26 keys containing the word "Autocomplete" and see none that have the ability to contain the actual MRU list.

However I do find:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{6756A641-DE71-11d0-831B-00AA005B4383}
contains a default value of "MRU AutoComplete List" and nothing else. I don't use Autocomplete at all so of course I find nothing else listed there. I suspect you won't either because I don't believe it is stored in the registry.

To answer your question...No, I don't know where it is stored.

Maybe someone else does?

Open IE ... Tools / Internet Options / Clear History / Delete Cookies / Delete Temporary Internet Files --- that did it for me. No more addresses.
