IE crashes after installing Shockwave player (WXP-Pro)

I went to a website that needed Macromedia Shockwave player and I said "yes" to install it. I think it also installed some yahoo toolbar as well. Anyway, now I cannot run IE. I tried going to control panel to un-install the new SW I installed but I get the same error message and control panel crashes as well. I can't even open windows explorer any more (I get the same error).

My OS is windows XP.

Has anyone heard of this before? Any ideas??
